The project envisages to implement SMS alerts to government officials and members
of the Gram Panchayats about impending disasters , or allotment of funds for a particular
project, information about the date and venue of a health camp to be held, pulse
polio campaign, the filing of reports, and so on through an SMS alert over the mobile.
The system will also enable the PRIs, Government officials and general citizens
to pull selected data on query from the data centre. Using mobile-based technology,
dynamic display boards have been tested which has been proved to be useful to manage
events where large amount of people gather and a profound public address system
is required for delivery of information to the people gathered around the event.

But the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development Department is conceptualizes
to make a break through , with assistance from the National Institute of Smart Governance(NISG)
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The UNDP has sanctioned a pilot project
in 54 GPs in five Blocks - Bandwan and Bagmundi Blocks of Purulia and Sagar, Patharpratima
and Gosaba Blocks of South 24-Parganas.
